Introducing INL Gigs: A Talent Mobility Program

INL Gigs provides employees with opportunities to gain new experiences through short-term internal assignments, also known as gigs. This initiative benefits both “gigsters”, the employees who take on the assignments, and the gig managers, who post these gigs. Gigsters can refine their current skill sets, develop new capabilities, and expand their professional networks. Meanwhile, gig managers benefit from new team members who bring fresh perspectives and help future-proof our workforce. INL Gigs enhances laboratory-wide collaboration and professional development, supporting the laboratory’s vision of changing the world’s energy future and securing our nation’s critical infrastructure.

How it Works

Anyone Can Become a "Gigster":

  • Create a "gigster" profile.
  • Browse opportunities from the list of available gigs. Read descriptions, required skills and expected time commitment.
  • Choose gigs to fit your curiosity and schedule. Express your interest in the gig(s) you'd like to work on and provide a brief overview of your qualifications.
  • Enhance your skills through hands-on experience and build your network while working alongside colleagues from various disciplines.

Managers Can Empower Growth Through Gigs:

  • Create a gig by identifying a part-time, short term project on your team which could benefit from additional support or an outside perspective.
  • Access a broad talent pool when you tap into the varied skills of knowledge of employees across the laboratory.
  • Review and select one to participate in your gig.
  • Optimize resources and quickly integrate the gigster with your gig and begin accomplishing goals!

INL Gigs connects our talented workforce with meaningful opportunities to advance our mission and empower employees to grow in their careers.
